Bits and pieces

Whoa what great weather we have had these past couple of days. The sun is shining and it is 20+ degrees in the shadow (was 32 in the sun on Thursday). I have been with my baby brother in the suburbs and enjoying the weather, we went to the mall and had lunch and for dessert a soft ice. Have some pictures of that in my cell that I'll probably upload tomorrow when I'm a bit more sober ;) Tonight one of my best friends Peter invited me and some other friends to dinner. We had a wonderful BBQ and plenty of drinks. After the dinner Peter took out the poker table and we all played some texas hold'em, I finished second. Blew it all on my last hand, but it was fun.

After the game we just sat down and talked about anything that came to our minds, also some things where spluttered since the hostess had a few to many to drink ;) I was the only one keeping up with her but I didn't get that dizzy feeling after all those drinks. It must be that I can hold my liquor better then her ;) We also discussed why I was the only one at that party that didn't have a girlfriend (and I wonder that too). While on the subject Peter picks up his cell and texts a girl he met a couple of years before he got together with his current girlfriend, and sends a message that I'm available, she calls him back and tells him that I should meet her downtown because she was out clubbing but it was fairly late so I didn't really feel like chasing after my own tail all night. I'll probably call Peter tomorrow and while I'm on the phone with him I could always ask for her number and then call her later on (or let him introduce me to her or her to me whatever happens first).

Oh my baby brother and I have also booked the "flyttis" (pick up) that I and my 2 brothers are going to drive up to Skellefteå and then back down again (a sum of 1 000 miles there and back) after my graduation. Well that's that, now I'm ready for bed so I'll drop a line soon again.

The pictures as promised (the last one only swedish reading ppl will probably understand)

The drive home

You know what I did? Yes I took a car and drove back home to Stockholm and this is my story: I checked online if there was a car available and it was from Umeå to Stockholm Arlanda, I instantly called a friend and asked her if I could crash at her place for one night and she said that it was just fine. While I'm talking to her on the phone I booked the car from Hertz (it was a brand new Volvo S80 D5) and I'm going to pick it up the next day so now it's time for me to get to Umeå hehe which also was in a haste. I started to lookup when the bus leaves. I took the 5.30 PM bus and boy I barely made it to it in time ;)

Got on the bus and 2 hours later I'm in Umeå and Åsa is there waiting for me when I arrived, we walk back to her place and I dump my luggage and we went out to grab a bite to eat and catch up. We talked about some of the girl problems I'm having and about some of her boy problems. After we're finished we went to visit one of her classmates and to get some dessert :) We ate some "kladdkaka" and it was really good. After that we went back to Åsas place and prepared for the night. We went to sleep around midnight and then woke up around 9 AM. We ate some breakfast and then it was off to Hertz. At Hertz I got to sign some paperwork and then the car was all mine :)

It's a damn nice car to drive, the transmission was automatic so cruise control was a blast to use. And the drive only took 7 hrs. Below are some more photos I took during my trip down to Stockholm. I was pretty darn happy to be able to go home ;)

That about sums it all up :) time for bed c ya!

Another weekend bites the dust

And there goes yet another weekend, sadly to say. Last night I stayed up late and did all kinds of stuff, mainly just zapping on the TV found a channel that showed a very old swedish movie called PS Sista Sommaren (PS Last Summer). I didn't really watch it that much just glazed at it from time to time, and one scene in the begining was especially funny when one of the main characters sees a topless girl and says "Vilka djävla månlandare!" (What huge lunar modules) it was the funniest line I've heard in years.

Oh I'm having a bit of a girl problem nowadays. I gotten to fancy a girl whom was (notice the word _was_) together with a bloke from my campus, they've been together for 5 ½ years when he breaks up with her, (they obviously got together about 4 ½ years before they started studying at my campus) the light at the end of the tunnel suddenly shines brighter on me, chances are bigger that I might hook up with her, or so it seems. I didn't want to be the fallback guy right after a relationship so I wait. Now I've cried out my heart for her but she still only sees me as a friend and not a boyfriend (sadly to say). I'm having a bit of a hard time accepting that she only wants to be friends but I guess I have to accept it sooner or later, on top of it all she tells me that she has a date this friday with someone that I know and refuses to say who he is. So I start guessing and on my first guess I nailed it, not that I'm happy with the result since it's one of my not so dearest friends :(

I'm begining to think that there is a curse on me or something, the last girl I was interested in and wanted to start something with ended up in his arms :( and now it seemes like this one is going to end up there to *sigh*. Well move on they say, yes I shall move on but still it feels like I want to "kill" him or atleast hurt him for it, but that's not the kind of person I am so I'm not gonna do a thing about it. I've told her how I feel and it's up to her to decide whether she wants me or him. Blah I hate girl problems.

Trying to think of something else, maybe that car rental thingie that I might do. There is this car rental service that offers free car rentals with gas payed, the only catch is that you have to pick up the car from them and drive it to where it was originally rented. Kinda sweet to get a free trip. The car rental service is in Luleå and that means that I would have to catch the bus in the morning and then drive back to Stockholm with it. But I don't know if the car is available anymore. They have this rule: first come, first served. And it seemes that someone else has already booked the car, or they haven't put it out on their website yet. It remains a mistery until tomorrow morning. So I guess I should hit the sack now to be able to get up like 5 mins before they open and check the website, if the car isn't bookable then I'll just go back to sleep ;)

Preparations preparations

Alot of things got done today. First off I wasn't so jolly when 2 of my classmates was banging on my front door at 9 AM this morning when my alarm clock was set to 10.30 AM and I had went to bed fairly late (about 3 AM). Anyway after I did get up I started calling around to make sure that things where coming together. I started with calling my baby brother and told him to scout out the different rentable pickups. Then I called my mom to say that if she wanted to be at my ceremony she would have to send some cash to me so I can book her ticket and after that I called my dad and told him the total price of the tickets he was going to pay for so he sent the me the rest of the cash.

I watched the movie An Inconvenient Truth and it was very moving, in the middle of the film my baby brother calls and tells me about the different pickups we can rent and to what price for 3 days. We chat a bit about how we are going to do and mostly decide for our big brother that he is going to ride with us both up and down, we talked for about an hour. After that I decided to call my big brother to confirm a couple of things and tell him about the ceremony. Then I booked and payed for the flight tickets for the whole family :)

After all "appointments" on the phone I saw the rest of the movie, then I switched over to the TV and watched an episode of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (just love his show), he had a comedian on the show named Orny Adams and I managed to find his stand-up act on youtube and thought why not share it here in my blog ;) so enjoy and god night!

Nothing to do but alot on the agenda

So it's been a few days since I last posted, but I've been busy doing... ehh... stuff ;) Mostly I've been waking up, making breakfast and sitting infront of my computer doing "nothing" it would seem. Today for instance I did manage to wake up before noon, but still I had planned to code some more on one of my projects that are unfinished. Guess that I really have to put in an effort tomorrow. Today wasn't really a waste of time, I did call Ericsson AB to ask if my application for a thesis position had arrived and it had, although they where missing my grades from high school and as far as I have come now at the university so I put in an effort to mail it to them. Now I'm only waiting for the answer from them.

Oh I haven't got any response yet from my big brother about my crazy idea but some questions has come up. I really hope that my baby brother, I and my big brother can make the road trip from Skellefteå to Stockholm. However it seems that I and my baby brother are going to rent a pickup of some sort and then drive all the way up and load it up, go to my commencement (what a word never heard of it) and then on the first of June drive back. The plans are adjustable just need to hear the new plan ;)

Sweden won their hockey final against Russia today with 3 - 2 it was an awsome game. Talking about games ;) the latest game I've been playing is an old one called Project: Snowblind it's from 2005 and I must say that I can feel the "retro" feeling in the graphics in that game. It's cool and all but still I think I'm going to play it through just to have done it. From one thing to the other, since I haven't gotten any thesis work yet I've been watching alot more TV these last days and I really enjoy some of the comercials. I wish I could record them or find them on the internet somewhere.

I called my dad today and talked about my commencement and he told me that he and his do I dare to say wife or maybe his woman ;) are planning to fly up and then back again the same day as I have my commencement. My dad even told me that he could pay for the tickets for my big brothers wife and their kids to do the same over day trip by plane. Well that would be all for today.

Catch you later!

Friday the 13th

So it's friday the 13th, too bad that I'm not superstitious, then I would probably freak out, but since I'm not then I guess I'll be as calm as I use to be. Went to the bank today to deposit "some" spare change that I have been collecting, it all came down to about $160 and that is alot for a Swedish student :) so I guess I get to live till the end of this month too ;) I bought a pre-paid phone card for my cell today so now I have a new cellphone number. After I got the e-mail from my big brother that he is coming with his family on the 24th I got this crazy idea.

My school is out the 31st of May and then I am heading back home, but the crazy idea would be me and my 2 brothers help me to move back home. It would roughly take 2 days to fix everything and empty my room in the flat I'm living in. But before that my big brother and his family could come up here and be at the ceremony and enjoy the festivities afterwards and then the day after we could just take the loaded pickup and drive back to Stockholm (the drive takes about 9 hrs). I have no clue what my big brother thinks of this plan but I know that my baby brother is up for it. I guess I'll try to e-mail or call my big brother when I wake up tomorrow to hear if he thinks it would be okey.

Guess I should get some sleep now :)

Tax and stuff

Today I got rid of my tax duties over the internet, kinda easy when you do it with a secure connection and a special identification. Wasn't that hard, most of the stuff was pre-printed so I only had to change the income tax for my stock shares and then verify it and tada I'm done. Yesterday my friend and I did play through Halo 2 on my xbox, we played in co-op and started from the beginning. I thought that we where going to play for a couple of hours but instead we ended up playing through the whole game (hehe) it was fun though. That resulted in that we went to bed around 8 AM, I was fairly tired then but satisfied.

We are running out of things to play ;) since my crappy laptop can't play the new games that my stationary can. My laptop has a 1.7 GHz CPU with 512MB of RAM and some space on the hdd but thats about it, the graphics card is an old integrated one so the best game we can play flawlessy is StarCraft and that is fun for the first couple of hours. Well I guess we don't have to bother with that question for long since my friend is going home tomorrow. After he leaves on wednesday I wounder what I should do with the spare time that I have, maybe finish some of the projects I have been fooling around with.

Just got an e-mail from my big brother and I must say that it was a nice surprise, in it he says that he is coming to Sweden aswell with his wife and kids but he can only stay for a couple of weeks, but that doesn't really bother me since I'm going to be home slightly before they land in Sweden :) so I think I'll be the one picking them up from the airport. Also tomorrow is my baby brothers birthday, I think I need to write it down on a post-it or something somewhere so that I will see it and call him to congratulate :)

Well that's it for now, I'm off to bed and to a new day g'night!

"Vacation"

So I'm back now for a while, been kinda busy lately doing "nothing" hehe. I was supposed to update my blog during this last week but something always comes in the way ;) a well here I am anyway. I've almost finished DiceInvaders, just need to make the enemy move and shoot. But the development of that "game" has been put on a hold since I figured that I was in a need of a vacation of some sort. Surprisingly my vacation was that one of my oldest and dearest friens came to visit me :) and he is staying for a week (yaye!). He flew up here this wednesday so he has been here for 4 days now. We have been playing on my xbox, and I've borrowed a xbox360 from one of my classmates (his is firmware flashed so we can play backuped games), we have also been playing some StarCraft.

I'm still looking for a bachelor thesis position and now at any company that are looking for some bachelor thesis working pupils. Nothing really to report on that front. I've been BBQ:ing for some time now :) and I just love BBQ food.

It's now daylight savings and the sun is up alot more often now (duh!), I have some pictures of a nice sunset here in the north. The temperature outside is around +5 to +15 when the sun is out and down to -5 in the night so it's not that bad. I'm looking forward to this summer because my big brothers wife and their 2 kids are coming to Sweden :) my big brother is coming in the late midsummer or so.

I'm down with this new Coca-Cola Zero thing, I think you know what I mean in this next picture ;)

A well now it's time to fix my dinner for me and my friend and then we are going to watch Epic Movie. L8ters!
